November 8 & 9, 2021 Special Meeting Notice
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – The New Hanover County Board of Elections will be meeting on November 8, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Longleaf Room at the Board of Elections Office, located at 1241 A Military Cutoff Road, Wilmington, NC 28405, to review and count supplemental absentee and provisional ballots.
The New Hanover County Board of Elections will also be meeting on November 9, 2021 at 11:00 AM to conduct the county canvass of election results.
Those who wish to participate in the November 8, 2021 meeting telephonically can do so by dialing 1-336-218-2051 at 2:00 PM. When prompted for the Conference ID press 320 836 607 followed by pound (#). This meeting will be available for public viewing via Microsoft Teams, those who wish to join the meeting via teleconference can do so by clicking the live stream link here.

According to New Hanover County’s Administrative Policy for Face Coverings on County Property, individuals from the public who participate in indoor meetings of the Board of Commissioners, Planning Board, Health and Human Services Board, Board of Elections, or any other county board or committee are required to wear face coverings, and exemptions will not be recognized. Individuals who attend without a face covering will be offered a face covering. If they refuse to wear a face covering, they will not be allowed to attend the meeting in person but will be able to view, listen to, and participate in the meeting remotely using the information above.
For the upcoming Board of Elections meetings, individuals can submit public comments in advance to firstname.lastname@example.org (noting the board name in the subject line) by November 7, 2021 at 12:00 PM. Written comments will be provided to the board and the board chair will acknowledge receipt during the public hearing or submit comments into the record during the public hearing and/or public comment period.
Per Session Law 2018-146, county boards of elections in North Carolina are composed of five appointed members. Four members are appointed by the NC State Board of Elections: two Democrats and two Republicans. The Chair is appointed by the Governor. The Board is responsible for the administration of Elections and Related Laws and Rules of North Carolina. The Director, upon recommendation of the Board, is appointed by the State to advise and provide administrative oversight of the elections department. On the Tuesday following the third Monday in August of the year in which they are appointed the county board of elections shall meet and appoint precinct chief judges and judges of elections.
The board may hold other meetings at such times as the chairman of the board, or any two members thereof, may direct, for the performance of duties prescribed by law. A majority of the members shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of board business. The chairman shall notify, or cause to be notified, all members regarding every meeting to be held by the board.
All meetings will be held in the New Hanover County Board of Elections office located at 230 Government Center Drive, Suite 34, Wilmington, NC 28403, unless otherwise indicated in the board meeting notice.
